Overview

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of accounting and finance. 

The course equips students with the skills, knowledge and competencies necessary to evaluate financial information, analyse financial statements, value companies and make informed decisions.

Students will gain an understanding of the regulatory framework that governs accounting and finance practices and comply with relevant laws and regulations. They will develop analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills through real-world accounting and finance applications.

Our programme promotes responsible corporate governance and sustainable financial management, encouraging students to think and act as global citizens by applying ethical, social and environmental considerations when making decisions. Students will also enhance their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills by working collaboratively in diverse and multicultural environments.

We promote an inclusive curriculum to create a more equitable and diverse learning environment in which every learner feels valued and supported. Our students acquire hands-on experience in the accounting and finance field through practical projects, case studies, simulations and experiential learning activities. The course is assessed by a variety of methods, including written coursework, examination and presentations.

Our programme provides students with highly sought skills and knowledge required to make informed financial decisions in a rapidly changing and complex business environment that are in demand in the job market.

Students prepare for a range of careers in the accounting and finance industry, including investment banking, risk management, financial analysis, and consultancy.

In addition to technical skills, our programme also emphasizes the development of key transferable skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork and leadership. Students are prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing business environment and contribute positively to the growth and success of their organisations.

Structure and content

Over the course of your MSc, you will study a total of 6 modules. See below for the modules which you will study:


  • Postgraduate Study Skills, Research Methods and Ethics
  • Corporate Reporting, Budgeting and Control
  • Corporate Finance and Valuations
  • Taxation, Audit and Assurance
  • Investment and Risk Management
  • Postgraduate Major Project (Accounting and Finance)

Entry requirements

Students must have equivalent of a UK first degree at 2:2 or above plus relevant experience.

AND

Have previously been taught in English and have sufficient command of English to undertake postgraduate study or have an IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.5 or better.

If you have completed a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent non-UK qualification and did not achieve our required grades for entry, but can demonstrate that your life/work skills would make you suitable, you should still consider applying.

Timetable

Full-time Schedule:
Standard delivery
Studying on campus 2 days a week which is Monday - Friday (10:00-17:00)

Part-time Schedule:
Studying on campus 1 day a week which is Monday - Friday (10:00-17:00)

Non-Standard delivery (evening and weekend delivery):
Part-time delivery rotates between Tuesday & Thursday (18:00-21:00) and Saturday (10:00-17:00) across trimesters:
Trimesters 1/3/5 - Tuesday & Thursday / Trimesters 2/4/6 - Saturday

Assessment

ARUL employs assignments, presentations, and examinations to measure student progress, along with an innovative case study major project or dissertation to complete the course.

The Major Project involves detailed research, analysis and reporting of a finance related issue.

2023/24:
UK/EU: £8,500 or £6,500 for Alumni
International: £16,700


EU nationals who meet residency requirements (have settled or pre-settled status) may be eligible for 'Home' fee status. If you do not meet these residency requirements, overseas fees will apply. Irish citizens living in the UK or Ireland will be eligible for 'Home' fee status under the Common Travel Area arrangement.
